Full Review- L'Oreal True Match Foundation (Original and Lumi Versions)

Hello Everyone!

Welcome back to ABC!

Todays post was supposed to be a kind of Get Ready with Me post, but things happened last night and today, and I just wasn't able to get around to doing the photos. Plus, I am really broke out on my cheeks, and jaw line, so I thought I would spare you all from seeing the nasty little planets that have made my face their home...

Anyways!!! Today, I will be doing a full review on L'Oreal True Match Foundations! I recently purchased both the Original True Match Super-Blendable Makeup and the True Mach LUMI Healthy Luminous Makeup.

I picked up the Original Formula in N4 Buff Beige. It was a little too dark for my skin.

I purchased the Lumi Formula in N1-2 Soft Ivory-Classic Ivory. This color matched my skin perfectly.

I will start out with reviewing the Original Formulation.
I used my nameless Beauty Sponge (knock off of the Beauty Blender) to apply this foundation. I always prime my face before hand, due to dry patches of skin I have on my face.
So, using a dampened Beauty Sponge, I pat the product all over my face, and since it was too dark, I blended it down my neck and chest area.
This foundation did blend very nicely, as promised. It was a sheer to medium coverage at first, but you are able to build it to full coverage. I do like a full coverage foundation due to some dilated capillaries I have under my eyes, onto my cheeks, and around my nose. For this, you simply allow about 15-20 seconds to let the foundation dry a bit, and repeat the process.
I used about 2 dime size amounts, which seemed a little much to me. This foundation has a satin to matte finish. Perfect for combination to oily skin.
The foundation seemed to last most of the day. But I also wasn't doing much that first day I wore it.

The second time I used the Original Formulation, I had a lot to do. I was in Ohio, visiting my mom and step dad for the holidays, and we had to finish our Christmas shopping. I put my makeup on at about 4pm. When I got home at about 10pm, the foundation was still nicely in place. I waited until about 1230pm to remove my makeup. Before I removed my makeup, I looked at my face pretty closely, and the foundation had, to my surprise, stayed put. So, total, it stayed for about 8.5 hours.

Overall, I liked this foundation. The only downsides were as follows:
  1. Packaging- I hate that I had to dump it onto my hand. This type of packaging can cause some major messiness.
  2. Settling- This foundation settled into my pores, and fine lines pretty quickly. Even though I used a primer.
  3. Scent- This Formulation has Broad Spectrum SPF 17. Which makes this foundation smell like straight sunscreen. I cannot stand that. But, the scent does fade after about 10 minutes of being on the face.
Final Verdict-
I liked this foundation. I would buy it again, in a lighter shade of course. But I would definitely have to use a good poreless primer with it.

Now, onto the Lumi Formulation. I applied this foundation the same way as the Original Formulation. I just used a dampened Beauty Sponge, and pressed it into my skin. I also applied primer before applying the foundation. It has about the same sheer to medium coverage. So, again, I just waited 15-20 seconds to allow it to dry, and then applied a second layer. I used about 2 pumps of product total.
This foundation has a moderately dewy finish. Perfect for dry skin, or even for combination skin that want to look dewy as apposed to matte.
The first time I wore this, I was very impressed. It gave my skin a very luminous appearance, without any glitter or shimmer. I wore this foundation when I went to run errands, and to dinner with my mother. It did not budge. I would say it gave me a good 8 hours of wear, so about the same as the Original Formulation.
This Formula did not settle into my lines any of the times I wore it. I also love the packaging. I love that it comes with a pump, and the bottle is a lot sleeker. It really makes you feel like you're using a high end product.

Now, for the cons:
  1. Scent- This Formulation has Broad Spectrum SPF 20. Which makes it smell even more so like sunscreen..... Again, I cannot stand the smell. The smell did seem to fade quicker though, because I did use less product. At about 5 minutes, the scent was gone.
  2. If I do not use a primer with this product, it does seem to cling onto my dryer skin patches. I forgot primer last night, when I went to dinner with my brother, and it literally seemed to cling to every dry skin cell on my face.
Final Verdict-
I love this product, and will definitely buy this again. If I always be sure to use a primer, this foundation will definitely become a Holy Grail foundation.

So, overall, I think that both of these foundations are completely worth buying. They were both under $15 at my local CVS and Walmart. I definitely be using the Lumi Formulation more than the Original, but the Original might become a summer makeup staple.
