How To: A Tutorial - Purple Smokey Eye with Nude Pink Lips

Hi There!!!

Welcome Back to Audrey's Beauty Corner!

Today, I will be giving you a Picture Tutorial on this look! A purple smokey eye, with a matte nudey pink lip. I used my new BH Cosmetics 3rd Edition 120 Eyeshadow Palette.

PS. Please excuse my brows... They aren't very pretty due to letting the bottom of my arches grow, to reshape them.

I purchased my palette on www.bhcosmetics.com. It is normally $35. I purchased mine while they had their Winter Wonderland Sale this past week.

Since none of the shadows have names, that I can see on the package, I will refer to the colors according to the charts below.

Here is how I achieved this look!

I started out by Priming my eye lids. I used my e.l.f. Eyelid Primer.
I use the sheer one, but they do have a tinted one that helps to conceal, but I feel this one conceals the veins and natural pigmentation on my lids perfectly. Priming your lids allows for better application, more pigmentation, and allows you to blend things a bit easier than without.

Next I used this lighter matte shade to highlight my brow bones, and I used some regular scotch tape to help create more of the cat eye effect, and also to catch any fall out. I also recommend that you do your eyes before your face when using this palette, as I did notice quite a bit of fall out when using the darker shades. The shade for highlighting I used is Tray 2 - F9.

Next, I used this matte brownish orange color. Tray 1 - E1. I lightly dusted this in my upper crease with a fluffy buffer brush, as a transition shade. This will make all of the other shades a little easier to blend out, so that we don't have any harsh lines. You will want to choose a color 1-2 shades darker than your own skin. I like using a pretty neutral toned brown. But always make sure it isn't to dark, otherwise it will defeat the purpose. This color will eventually disappear, for the most part. Be very light handed with this, and just do windshield wiper motions, then turn your brush on its side and blend out with circular motions. From inner to outer crease.

The next step, is to crease the base lid color. I used this matte plumy purple shade (it is more purple in person than the photo. My camera made it look blue for some reason..). It is Tray 1 - A5 . I used a flat shader brush, and just packed this color all over my lid. From the lash line to the crease. Do not take this color into the crease. I wanted it to just be on the lid. I will blend it out in a little bit. For now, just focus on packing this all over the lid, until you get the pigmentation that you like.

Next, I took this shimmery blue color (definitely darker in person...). Tray 2 - A7. I used a flat shader brush, and applied this LIGHTLY above the purple color. I didn't like how it looked, so I pretty much blended it away in the next step. If you create this look, just skip this step.

Now, I took this matte medium brown shade, on a blending brush, and blended the purple up into the transition color. I also used this to blend away the previous blue color. This shade is Tray 2 - E10. With this, I just lightly used small circular motions and windshield wiper motions.

After blending, a lot of the purple had been blended away, so I went back with the purple color and added more, and blended out a little bit more.

Here, I took this shimmery black color, Tray 2 - A3. I applied this color VERY close to the tape on the outter V, and into the outter area of the crease. I then used a clean blending brush, and blended it into the purple and brown colors. I added more and kept blending until I got the look I wanted.

Then, I took the tape off, gently. I then used a clean blending brush and blended the harsh line out just a little bit.

After this, I put on my L'Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation in N1-2, using my Beauty Sponge. I used my Hard Candy Glamoflauge Concealer under my eyes to highlight and conceal, blending out with my Beauty Sponge, and set it with powder. I used a bronzing powder and contoured very lightly. I also used Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso. Then I used a Brow pencil to fill in my brows, and set with a tinted gel. I then used my e.l.f. Cream Liner in Black to create a baby wing, and used my Maybelline the Falsies Volum' Express Mascara.

Here is the finished look:

I also used NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in the shade Tokyo.
